Privacy

The Short Version

Gist processes your health data entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or store your data on any external servers. There are no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no account.

Data We Access

Gist requests read-only access to Apple HealthKit data to calculate your biological age. This includes:

• Sleep data (duration, deep and REM stages)
• Activity data (steps, distance, exercise time, energy burned, flights climbed, stand hours)
• Heart data (resting heart rate, heart rate variability, walking heart rate, respiratory rate)
• Body data (VO2 max, walking speed, walking steadiness, BMI and body fat if available)
• Date of birth (to calculate chronological age)

How We Use Your Data

All calculations happen locally on your iPhone. Your health metrics are scored against research-based optimal ranges to generate your Gist Age. Nobody at Gist can see this data, because it never leaves your device.

Data Storage

The following is stored locally on your device only:

• Your birth date (for age calculation)
• Your weekly Gist Age history (up to 52 weeks)
• A small snapshot of your latest Gist Age, trend, and score so the home screen and lock screen widgets can display it
• App preferences and trial status

This data is stored in standard iOS app storage on your device, shared only between the app and its own widgets, and is deleted when you uninstall the app. It is not backed up to any Gist server.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No personal identifiers
• No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking
• No advertisements
• No selling or sharing of data, because there is none to share
• No account or login
• No internet connection required for any feature

HealthKit

Gist uses Apple HealthKit to read health data. Per Apple's requirements, we do not use HealthKit data for advertising or share it with third parties. HealthKit data is used solely to calculate your biological age within the app.

Purchases

Gist offers a free 3-day trial followed by a one-time lifetime purchase. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Gist receives no payment details and stores only whether the purchase has been made, which you can restore on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.

Your Rights

You can revoke Gist's access to HealthKit at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gist. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Gist is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
